Each year, the General Assembly considers over 2,000 pieces of legislation, with just over 200 of those impacting the real estate industry in some manner.
In addition to our efforts on those bills, Maryland REALTORS® also develops a list of Priority Issues which we work to have introduced on behalf of our members. These have included licensing reforms, changes to brokerage laws and measures to increase homeownership opportunities.
State of Housing 2026
Each year, Maryland REALTORS® surveys Marylanders, with the help of Statara, about the state of housing. Marylanders have been clear: budgets are reaching a breaking point and high housing prices and low housing production are a large part of the strain. Marylanders are looking toward the General Assembly to help, but not seeing the results that they want.
