July 1 is the second milestone of the annual new laws calendar. On this date, most budgetary, tax, and revenue bills go into effect.

The following are bills reviewed by Maryland REALTORS® with July 1 effective dates

“In this challenging housing climate, when interest rates are increasing and affordable housing inventory is low,  the state of Maryland is always looking for innovative offerings to make homeownership affordable."

For FY 23, that includes an increase in base downpayment assistance of $6,000 and other program enhancements.

The Maryland Real Estate Commission is attempting to better enforce ALL advertising compliance with the law, this includes digital as well so that no advertising is misleading to the public.  Most recently, March 7th, in an effort to clarify this for ALL advertising the Commission finalized the regulation “Relations to the Public,” specifically as it pertains to digital advertising and detailed below with an explanation – also known as the one-click rule (Md. Code Regs. 09.11.02.01).  It also provides additional guidance on team advertising.
