Can a licensed RE Broker share commissions with an attorney who does not have a real estate license?

Effective October 1, 2016, lawyers may only share in the commission, if: the lawyer is licensed in Maryland; the lawyer provides real estate brokerage services to another person; and those services are in the course of the lawyer’s regular practice of law. They would also have to negotiate compensation in advance if they are not members of the Multiple Listing Service (MLS)—unilateral offers of cooperative compensation through the MLS are only made to members of the MLS.  Additionally, they would not have access to MAR forms unless they were REALTOR® members.
