| Comments: | I was so lucky to be part of Katie's large and loving orbit of friends, co-workers and family. I never told her but she reminded so much of my maternal grandmother Mary. Like my grandmother, Katie was fond of shopping and finding a pair of shoes in the perfect shade of peacock blue to match her skirt and her earrings. I loved her exuberance and zest for life and I see her in heaven having lunch with my grandmother and going out for a little shopping afterwards to see what's on sale. Kris |

Katie was the voice and email presence I relied upon. Katie's focus, stamina, and cheerful attitude were the bright spot in many of my days. I left the association 7 years ago, but when I went back last year, Katie welcomed me like I had never left. She showed me all the new offices and introduced me to the new staff. She was so proud - you could always tell that she loved her job and the people there. We all loved Katie's zest for living, shopping, and her family. She will be missed by many, but I know she is singing with the heavenly choir now! We love you. |

| Comments: | When I picked up my registration packet at this year's convention, there was Katie--with her warm smile greeting all and "taking care of business". When she "took care of business", she took care of us--the members of MAR who were blessed to have known her and shared a part of our lives with her. She will serve as an inspiration to us all as we remember to approach each day looking for and expecting the best. That's what Katie gave to us--her best--and we owe her no less than to go out and deliver the same in our daily lives. |

She really enjoyed seeing my girls when they came to the office, and the girls always liked seeing her too. Like everyone that met Katie, they, too, were very sad about her passing.

| Comments: | Katie was the "cruise director." She made sure that everything ran smoothly for all of the staff-related functions. I guess I'll remember most our holiday parties. She made sure it was special for everyone. We decorated the tree, but Katie took extra care to make sure that each ornament and decoration was in its proper place. I'm sure that we have no idea of all those things that Katie took care of that we will miss. | Comments: | We loss a vibrant member of the MAR family on Monday. When Katie arrived on the scene almost 20 years ago she fit right in. Her warm smile, friendly attitude and joy always made the day for all with whom she came in contact a lot better. Katie was a "go to" person at the MAR headquarters. All one needed to do was ask and it was done. She always made everyone feel special. She will be sorely missed by all. However, her spirit will still be felt by all she leaves to continue. | Comments: | Oh, how I remember that new employee, Katie, when she arrived on the scene. At once I was taken by her immersion of MAR responsibilities and her love of everyone with that smile!One of her first Ocean City conferences, I went up to her and asked what she thought of the new earrings I had just purchased at the conference. She didn't hesitate: "Tacky, Vivian". I tried to tell her how lovely the design, etc. She said "nope. Just tacky". After about 6 months of wearing them, I came to the same conclusion: Tacky. After that time, I always loved the fact that she didn't hesitate to say the truth, in spite of going the easier route.

| Comments: | When you are asked to step up from your local leadership roll to one that now includes the state level there is always a certain nervous feeling about walking into the MAR building for the first time. I will never forget seeing Katie there and with her warm greeting and infectious smile immediately putting me at ease. The awesome energy she projected always made you feel like you just lit up her day when in fact she had just brightened yours. She was truly one of God's special gifts. To say she will be missed is an understatement. | Comments: | How do you describe the loss of sunshine? That is how I feel about the loss of Katie. I loved her. For those of us who had the privelege of working closely with Katie, it was one of life's most wonderful experience. Katie nutured so many of us and took wonderful care of us. I could tell so many stories about her to her family.
Here are two special ones:
Katie's grandddaughter had just won a beauty contest and her picture was framed and on display in a Restaurant on the Eastern Shore. Several of the officers were headed to a Board event at that restaurant. She proudly told each and every one of us about her granddaughter. When we got back from the event, we all went in and told Katie how gorgeous her granddaughter looked in the picture (which was not an exaggeration). The smile on her face filled the room. That smile is as clear today as it was years ago.
The other thing that I remember about Katie was how we always teased each other about being short. We would share horizontally challenged stories. Well, Katie--if you are listening in heaven: Short women rock!!!
To her family--she always spoke of you and loved you so much. But you must know that because Katie never refrained from talking about the affection she had for her loved ones. She touched all of the members whom she met. She was adored by all and we will miss her so much. She was an inspiration to us all. I am sure God is smiling with her presence. Love, Ilene |

| Comments: | We all loved Katie. She was an extraordinary woman--she loved her work, she loved both the staff and the members, and I don't believe she ever said a mean thing about anyone.
Katie probably knew more members than all the rest of us combined, and judging by what they told us at the Conference, they knew and loved her too. She was, as one member said, the face of MAR, and it was always a happy one.
Her family is blessed to have had her as a member. We cannot imagine our lives without her, but we are extraordinarily enriched because she chose to spend these years with us. |

| Comments: | As the oldest daughter of Katie, I am more than honored to read the many notes written from all of her MAR Family on this website. My mother loved all of you and loved working there. Working at MAR was her saving grace, in so many ways. She loved getting dressed up for you, just like a teenager. Her love for her work family meant so much to her, and I personally thank you for making her feel special and validated. I can't describe the words of pride I have in my heart in knowing all of you spent the time to honor her this week at the Conference. She loved the attention! Most importantly, remember how much she loved all of you and enjoyed serving her friends in her position. She is and always will be one of the most AMAZING, IRREPLACEABLE, ONE OF A KIND woman I will have ever met. She was the most thoughtful person also, always had a card or gift for you during special occasions, and even in sorrow. | Comments: | When I came to MAR to interview around 7 years ago, Katie gave me multiple tests; spelling, typing, grammer to see if I could qualify for the position in Communications. She came back to see how I was doing, graded my tests and told in her most upbeat and positive Katie-self, how well I did. She wore a smile on her face and bounced around like a 10 year old. That's when I fell in love with Katie. Over the years, she always cared enough to ask questions and to check to see how my life was going. Always a kind word and a smile, Katie, you will be so missed. I never thought I'd say this...but I miss your singing.
